Bed and Breakfast for Birds !

We have been having the most beautiful sunny days here at Alton Albany Farm – but the nights are cold and there have been white sparkly frosts first thing in the mornings. When we first arrived at the Farm five years ago the gardens and surrounding woodlands were quiet and devoid of bird song – quite eery.  Thankfully now our trees are full of little birds and the air is full of bird song.We are making sure our little feathered friends (including a sweet little Nuthatch) have plenty of food to keep them going…

About Slow down... at Alton Albany Farm B&B

Enjoy good old fashioned hospitality in our Farmhouse, set in 2 acres of Wild Garden with borrowed views of a beautiful, lush green, Scottish valley. A log fire, a comfortable bed and a chance to read that book you've been meaning to. A short walk to the Village Pub for a drink and a meal and to work it off after there's no shortage of scenic trails to walk (or hire a mountain bike). A bit of peace, quiet and healthy exercise might be just what you need. Get away from it all for a weekend, you might even want to stay longer... We now have wifi in every room if you need to stay in touch - and a 40 " television in the lounge for our guests to relax and enjoy a selection of films beside the roaring fire. Fab…I’ve never seen a nuthatch before! Nice one. I am inundated by starlings and mourning doves here, but in between their visits I get loads of sparrows and goldfinches too. A starling close up is actually quite beautiful so I’m allowing them in. A nuthatch would be very welcome though.
